FA agrees deal with players
England's first goal against Slovakia
Michael Owen is a member of the players' committee
The Football Association has agreed a contract with the England team over lucrative commercial rights deals.

The FA have a range of commercial deals this season, linking five companies with the England team and the FA Cup, as well as women's and amateur football.

The income received, with McDonalds, Nationwide, Carlsberg and Umbro, to be joined by a fifth 'partner' firm, is expected to double the FA's annual commercial income.

The players will now share in that increased revenue because of the promotional work that they do, netting them a sizeable chunk of the proceeds over the next four years.

The FA announced: "The FA and the England squad, represented by a four-man committee of David Seaman, David Beckham, Michael Owen and Sol Campbell, today confirmed that a new four-year Team England contract has been agreed and will commence immediately."

There had previously been doubts as to whether the deal would easily be brokered, but after Campbell joined up with the squad it took just 90 minutes of negotiations.
