Markus Siegler has been named Fifa's new director of communications following the sacking of Keith Cooper.

And football's world governing body has also released another six employees, although the identities of the people in question and their positions are being kept secret.

Siegler previously served as communications manager to Fifa president Sepp Blatter and has been associated with the world governing body for six-and-a-half years.

The 44-year-old has also worked for Uefa and as an international football consultant.

The move is part of Blatter's re-organisation of world football's governing body and his vow to bring "discipline and order" back to Fifa.

In May, 11 members of the Fifa executive and the then-general secretary Michel Zen-Ruffinen filed charges with the Zurich prosecutor alleging corruption against Blatter.

Zen-Ruffinen was sacked by Blatter two days after the 66-year-old was re-elected as president at the Fifa Congress in Seoul.

The 55-year-old Cooper had been in charge of communications at Fifa for more than seven years.

He was given 24 hours to clear his office after being dismissed by acting secretary-general Urs Linsi during a two-minute conversation on Tuesday.

Blatter said towards the end of the World Cup he was going to spend the next 100 days re-structuring his administration.
