John Hollins becomes the latest manager to lose his job after failing to agree a new contract with Rochdale.

He becomes the 46th boss to leave or be sacked by his club since the 2000-2001 season started, not including Andy King who left Swindon before the season started.

Rochdale

Out: John Hollins
Reign: December 2001- May 2002
In: Not decided.
Verdict: Did a good job but could not agree a new contract.

John Hollins guided perennial under-achievers Rochdale into the Division Three play-offs.

But he had arrived at the club on a short-term deal - until the end of the season.

He was unable to agree a new contract and chairman David Kilpatrick decided he could not wait for an answer any longer.

Brighton

Out: Peter Taylor
Reign: October 2001- April 2002
In: Not decided.
Verdict: May have another job already lined up despite reports to the contrary.

Taylor helped Brighton secure promotion to Division One, but claimed he was forced to quit because of uncertainty over the club's uncertain future.

Taylor did not sign a contract when he took over at Albion and is now available to listen to offers from Crystal Palace and Wimbledon who are believed to be on the look out for new managers.

Alan Buckley was in charge of Lincoln for 14 months.

Verdict: Paid the ultimate price for defying the instructions of his chairman.

Terry Burton's Wimbledon made a late-season surge towards the Division One play-off zone, but left themselves with too much to do and missed out.

The Dons boss then infuriated chairman Charles Koppel by playing Peter Hawkins in the last game of the season despite being specifically told not to do so.

Burton's decision cost Koppel �10,000 as part of the deal that brought Hawkins to the club from Barnsley.

Twice he led them into the Uefa Cup and the FA Cup final and they were seventh in the Premiership when he left. Without the riches of talent of other top clubs, Gregory did the best he could with the resources at hand.

Verdict: Graydon has done a tremendous job with limited funds at the Bescot Stadium. The first team has been assembled for a meagre �180,000. In his three and a half years at the club, Graydon has tasted promotion to Division One twice and relegation back to Division Two once. A poor run of results has left the Saddlers in a precarious position and ultimately cost Graydon his job.
