Powerboats celebrate 10 years on the water

The second round of the 2009 Formula 4-stroke Powerboat Series arrives in Plymouth on Saturday.

Two days of racing will see 18 teams compete in both the 150hp and 225hp classes over six races.

This years event has added significance for the competitors as it is now 10 years since powerboat racing first came to Plymouth Sound.

The first round of the 2009 series was held in Pwllheli, North Wales on the 9-10 May.

Exeter based Hydrex Racing were the winners in the 150hp class in Pwllheli and are now hoping to repeat the feat on Saturday.

Hydrex driver Jak Cockman told BBC Spotlight: "I just plan to not let the other boats get anywhere near me."

The racing starts at 1145 BST on Saturday morning with the 225hp class up first and continues through to Sunday afternoon when the 150hp class round the weekend off with their final race at 1515 BST.
