England women won two matches in a day to seal a 3-0 Twenty20 series whitewash over Sri Lanka in Colombo.

Sunday's washout was rescheduled for Monday morning and England won by 17 runs, with Laura Marsh making 30 in a total of 114 and then taking 2-15.

England shone in the final game, Jenny Gunn firing four fours and three sixes in 69 off 46 balls in a total of 160-5.

Gunn held three catches and Danielle Hazell took 3-14 as Sri Lanka were 71 all out and England won by 89 runs.

Marsh struck three fours to top-score in the first match, with stand-in skipper Gunn hitting a six in a cameo 13 from 10 balls before being caught on the boundary.

Isa Guha then put England in command when she dismissed Chamari Polgampola with the first ball of the Sri Lanka innings.

Charlotte Edwards resumed the captaincy for the final match as Gunn struck a maiden international Twenty20 half century.

It has been a really positive tour, we have had a few frustrations with the weather but the team has dealt with it really well and we have managed to get the games in

She was eventually caught on the boundary in the 14th over but Fran Wilson (16) and Susie Rowe shared an unbroken stand of 43 in the final five overs, Rowe hitting a six and a four in her 24.

Guha again struck in the first over of the Sri Lankan reply and Beth MacGregor collected her first international wicket as England skittled out their hosts.

"I never dreamt I would play for my country never mind captain," Gunn enthused. "It was another great experience and makes me appreciate what a fantastic job Charlotte does.

"I really enjoyed the second match. I've felt really good all tour and it was great just to go out in the middle and enjoy myself."

Edwards, who will lead the team on a Test, one-day international and Twenty20 tour of Australia in the new year, said: "It has been a really positive tour, we have had a few frustrations with the weather but the team has dealt with it really well and we have managed to get the games in.

"We brought a few young players on this tour and I am really pleased that they have taken their opportunities. We are hitting our straps now as we demonstrated in the last game and will look forward to the tour of Australia in January."
