England coasted to a 147-run win over Ireland at Kibworth in their first one-day international of the season. Captain Charlotte Edwards top-scored for the home team, hitting 72, with Laura Marsh (67) recording her first ODI half-century as England made 274-7. Spinner Holly Colvin (2-31) and fast bowler Katherine Brunt (1-13) were the pick of England's bowlers. Irish opener Clare Shillington had to retire early on after being hit on the arm and Ireland finished on 127-9. 'It was a great day and personally nice to have scored my first one-day 50," said Marsh. "I have been working hard with Mark Lane and Jack Birkenshaw on my technique and it's paying off. "Charlotte Edwards batted well up front and put in a good performance." England next face New Zealand in an ODI on 10 July at Taunton's County Ground.
