Edwards was one of only two England players to make double figures

England's women lost their Twenty20 series against the West Indies after the hosts won the second match of the three-match series by five wickets.

England slid from 70-2 to 99 all out as only Charlotte Edwards (41) and Beth Morgan (14) made it to double figures.

Windies opener Stafanie Taylor fell with just one run on the board, and the loss of Deandra Dottin and Cordel Jack in quick succession gave England hope.

But 99 was never a big target and the hosts reached 102-5 off 19.1 overs.

When play finally started after a three-hour delay because of a thunder storm, a fit-again Ebony Rainford-Brent opened the batting with Edwards, but was run out for just six.

Two overs later Jenny Gunn was bowled for eight, leaving England on 29-2.

Edwards and Morgan then put on 41 between them, giving England hope of setting their opponents a decent total.

But once Edwards was caught out by Shanel Daley with the score on 70, followed by Morgan just four runs later and Caroline Atkins without adding to the score, England were on a slippery slope.

The lower order added 25 more runs and England were bowled out for 99 with two balls left unused.

With such a small total to defend, England needed a good start and got one when Taylor was out without scoring.

Dottin and Pamela Lavine began to score freely and although there was a wobble when the wickets of Dottin and Jack fell for the addition of just one run, as long as Lavine was at the crease the West Indies were in charge.

She was eventually out for 37, before Stacey Ann King (22 not out) and captain Merissa Aguilleira (18) put their team within touching distance of victory, which was reached when Daley (2) joined King at the crease.

"The team played well for maybe 75% of the match but ultimately that's not good enough to win these sorts of games," said head coach Mark Lane.

"I think we've all learnt a huge amount from the trip so far which will help us when we come back here in May for the ICC World Twenty20."
