Australia and New Zealand set a new record for the highest number of runs in a women's one-day international with a combined total of 570 in Hamilton. The tourists posted a score of 307-4 and then bowled out New Zealand for 263 to win by 44 runs. Lauren Ebsary (86), Leah Poulton (81) and Shelley Nitschke (58) led the run spree for Australia. And although Amy Satterthwaite made 67 for the home side, Emma Sampson took 3-34 to level the series at 2-2. "Scoring 300 in a match is something that we've been working towards as a team since the India series late last year. "We made some good scores in that series, but it's been fantastic to build on that and reach that goal today," said Australia skipper Karen Rolton. "Batting-wise, the main difference between the the first two matches and the last two is that we've been able to put big partnerships together." Nitschke and Poulton set the Southern Stars on their way with an opening stand of 121 in 22 overs, but it was 25-year-old Ebsary who really lifted the scoring rate, hitting nine fours in her 76-ball knock. The run-chase always looked beyond New Zealand after Katey Martin departed in the second over, although Satterthwaite was well supported by Nicola Browne and Sarah Tsukigawa, who both made 45. The end came when Sampson bowled Kate Pulford and Beth McNeill in the same over to set up a series decider in Wellington on Thursday.
