An attacking left-handed opening batsman, Graeme "Foxy" Fowler's England chance came about because of the three-year ban imposed on 16 England players for touring South Africa in 1982. Despite a very successful tour of India in 1985, once the rebels returned Fowler was permanently discarded from the Test team.
Always known as the joker of the dressing room Fowler played 21 Tests for England and became the first Englishman to record a Test double century in India in the 1984/85 tour.
He counts that stunning 201 in Madras as his career highlight, along with the 106 against West Indies at Lords in 1984.
Fowler set up Durham University's Cricket School of Excellence in 1996 in an effort to boost the quality of English cricket.
He has been broadcasting since 1987 and says his best broadcast moments have been the times spent with Henry Blofeld.
An ardent supporter of technology in the game, Fowler also believes that cricket should become semi-professional to allow all players the chance - not just a few professionals.
