Blignaut played 15 Tests before walking out last April |
All-rounder Andy Blignaut has signed a new contract to play for Zimbabwe after 10 months on the sidelines. He is the first big name to return from the 14 who resigned after captain Heath Streak's sacking last April.
"I would like to play the game for Zimbabwe at international level and prove myself so that I can move up the rankings," he said in a statement.
Blignaut returned to Zimbabwe last month after an unsuccessful spell with Australian state side Tasmania.
He was dogged by groin and thigh strains and played in a single first-class match for the Tigers.
The 26-year-old has taken 51 Test wickets at an average of 32.62 and averaged 24.53 with the bat in 15 Tests.
He could be rushed back in action later this week for Zimbabwe A against Bangladesh, playing as a batsman until he regains bowling fitness.
But he is unlikely to join Tatenda Taibu's squad on their current tour of South Africa.
Blignaut's decision, which Zimbabwe Cricket said was "unconditional" comes with other 'rebel' players still in talks with an independent arbitrator and hopeful of a resolution.
