Blignaut joins rebel exodus
Andy Blignaut
Blignaut has played 15 Tests for Zimbabwe
All-rounder Andy Blignaut has become the second Zimbabwe rebel to move to Australia, signing a three-year deal with state side Tasmania.

Blignaut, 25, has taken 51 Test wickets at an average of 32.62 and averaged 24.53 with the bat in 15 Tests.

"It represents a new challenge for me," said Blignaut, who follows new Western Australia signing Sean Ervine.

"I am looking forward to playing with Ricky Ponting, Dan Marsh and the other Tigers," he added.

Tasmania chief executive David Johnston said Blignaut would join the team in August to prepare for the season.

"He can bowl very fast and I think that's something we are looking for and obviously he's very handy down the order as a batsman," Johnston added.

Zimbabwe have been forced to pick a second-string team since 15 players, including former captain Heath Streak, pulled out in protest at racially driven selection policies.

Two scheduled Tests against Australia were called off because of Zimbabwe's problems in fielding a full-strength side.

The International Cricket Council is to discuss the Zimbabwe situation at a meeting on 27 June.
