Hussain announced his retirement last week |
Former England captain Nasser Hussain says tours to Zimbabwe must be cancelled with immediate effect. Australia's recent Test series was put off because a player row left the hosts under-strength but they still played three one-day internationals.
"I don't see how the ICC can continue with this pretence that Test cricket is different to one-day cricket," said Hussain, who retired last week.
"I just don't see how any side could possibly go and play cricket there."
 | The way the ICC handled that situation was disappointing and their attitude since then has been very poor |
Freed from his England central contract and no longer governed by the International Cricket Council's code of conduct, Hussain has offered his opinion for the first time. But he made no secret at the time of his disgust with the authorities over the handling of England's World Cup boycott last year.
"The whole Zimbabwe thing was a low for world cricket. I viewed the whole thing about the Zimbabwe issue as a complete schemozzle and one I don't think should be repeated," he added.
"The way the ICC handled that situation was disappointing and their attitude since then has been very poor."
The situation in Zimbabwe will be discussed at an ICC board meeting at the end of the month.
But outgoing England and Wales Cricket Board chief executive Tim Lamb said he expects England's tour to go ahead in November.
