Welegedara impressed in the Galle Test against England
Sri Lanka have picked six fast bowlers in a 15-man squad for the February limited-overs tri-series in Australia which also involves India.

Chaminda Vaas leads the attack with support from Lasith Malinga, Farveez Maharoof, Chanaka Welegedara, Nuwan Kulasekera and Ishara Amerasinghe.

Dilhara Fernando is not available after undergoing an ankle operation.

There is no specialist spinner to support Muttiah Muralitharan and batsman Jehan Mubarak is dropped.

Dilruwan Perera is picked as an off-spinning all-rounder while batsman Chamara Kapugedera also returns.

Sri Lanka leave for Australia on 24 January and will play two warm-up games against the Prime Minister's XI on 30 January and against Tasmania on 2 February.

Their first tri-series game is against India in Brisbane on 5 February after Australia kick off the tournament against India at the same ground two days earlier.


Squad: Mahela Jayawardene (captain), Kumar Sangakkara (wicket-keeper), Sanath Jayasuriya, Upul Tharanga, Dilruwan Perera, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Chamara Silva, Chamara Kapugedera, Chanaka Welegedara, Chaminda Vaas, Lasith Malinga, Nuwan Kulasekera, Muttiah Muralitharan, Farveez Maharoof, Ishara Amerasinghe.
