Tsotsobe is already on tour with the five-day squad |
South Africa have named three new caps in their 15-man squad for the limited overs segment of the tour of Australia. Batsman Vaughn van Jaarsveld and bowlers Wayne Parnell and Lonwabo Tsotsobe are the new faces for the Twenty 20 and one-day internationals. Tsotsobe is already on tour but has not play in the Test matches. In 2007 van Jaarsveld signed a two-year deal with Warwickshire but only played one Pro40 game before returning to South Africa. | 606: DEBATE | Makhaya Ntini and Herschelle Gibbs have both been recalled, although the latter will have to fight for his place after the recent success of Hashim Amla. "The new caps are all young players we have identified as having the potential to take us forward," said selection convener Mike Procter. "Van Jaarsveld has been the outstanding performer in the domestic championship this season with his consistent big-hitting scoring. He is also an outstanding slip fielder. "Wayne Parnell was one of the stand-out performers at this year's ICC Under-19 World Cup where he impressed with his maturity in being the leading wicket-taker in the tournament (18) as well as leading South Africa to the final, which they were unlucky to lose. "Tsotsobe has impressed by the manner in which he has settled into the Proteas' squad both on and off the field. His combination of swing and bounce makes him a good wicket-taking prospect."
