Botha underwent tests in Perth |
South Africa off-spinner Johan Botha has been cleared to bowl again in international cricket after restructuring his bowling action. Botha was suspended from internationals in January 2006 after he was reported for a suspect action during a one-day game against Austalia in Sydney.
He passed an independent reassessment test in Perth after 10 months' work.
"He can bowl the off-break and 'doosra' within tolerance levels," said South Africa Cricket chief Gerald Majola.
"This means that he can resume bowling in international cricket forthwith."
The International Cricket Council confirmed: "permission is granted on the basis he uses an action consistent to that used in the latest independent analysis."
Botha added: "I am absolutely delighted at this result.
"It has been a very worrying and disappointing time for me, but I have had wonderful support.
"I'm glad it's all over and I can get on with my bowling career."
