Abdul Razzaq led the charge for Pakistan as the tourists cruised to a 66-run Twenty20 victory over Essex.

Replying to a total of 204-4, Essex collapsed to 11-3 as Razzaq ripped out the top order.

Tim Phillips offered resistance with an unbeaten 57 from 44 balls but found little support.

Earlier, Pakistan's top order all weighed in, with Shoaib Malik and Umer Akmal sharing a stand of 75 in under five overs for the tourists.

Essex's reply faltered right at the start as Razzaq dismissed openers Mark Pettini and Matt Walker, and Grant Flower soon followed with only 11 runs on the board.

Captain James Foster hit a brisk 22 and although Phillips and last man Maurice Chambers put on 33 at the death Pakistan's win was never in doubt.

Earlier, the crowd of 5,000 had been treated to a blistering Pakistan batting attack.

Malik and Akmal both made 38, with Malik's unbeaten effort arriving from 17 balls, with three fours and two sixes.

Akmal struck two sixes in his half-a-dozen boundaries during an effort spanning 18 deliveries.

Openers Salman Butt and Shahzaib Hassan scored 41 and 49 respectively, both innings spanning 33 balls, as the Essex bowlers struggled to contain them.

Essex leg-spinner Danish Kaneria was punished for 46 in three overs, 30 of those during one seven-ball over.

Kaneria, who was playing against colleagues he will join when Pakistan start their Test series against England later in the summer, earned a consolation when he took the wicket of Butt.

Razzaq finished with three wickets for 19 runs from his three overs, while Saeed Ajmal took two for 18 in his three.
