Shoaib given time to explain case
Shoaib Akhtar
Shoaib insists he did no wrong in this latest furore
The Pakistan Cricket Board has suspended a fine imposed on Shoaib Akhtar until he has explained why he left a training camp this month.

Paceman Shoaib was fined 2,500 and docked 1.5 points disciplinary points for not informing team management.

The 32-year-old said he had told captain Shoaib Malik he was leaving the Karachi camp because of a stiff neck.

"He needs to be given more chance to plead his case," PCB appeals committee member Mueen Afzal explained.

"We have asked the board to review this case again and the penalties imposed on Shoaib."

The PCB said the player had failed to attend the initial disciplinary hearing but Shoaib claimed last week that he was not given advance notice of the proceedings.
