"We thought after the wicket had been under cover and with the morning dew the ball would do a lot but it didn�t," said the veteran batsman,

"Surprisingly the ball did a lot in the afternoon, when there was more wind."

"We started off pretty well by containing them but in the latter stage of the game they took it away from us."

Tikolo, who on the eve of the match hit out at the ICC for not letting Kenya play more top level matches, blamed the side�s lack of experience for their struggles.

"It was a very slow pitch - slower bowlers were better off doing the job than fast bowlers," he continued.

"When you play more games you get to play in different conditions. We've hardly played in England since the '99 World Cup so it becomes an issue."

However, he saw plus points to take into next week's match against Pakistan, in Thomas Odoyo's figures of 2-43 and a 92-run seventh wicket stand.

"Thomas bowled well for us. Maurice Ouma who is one of the youngsters scored 49 on his debut so hopefully he can carry on from there.

"And Brijal Patel, who has been struggling for form, got some runs behind his back so there are some positives for the next game."
