"I think it's my role as a more senior player now to try and pass on what I've learnt to the younger kids which is great," Lee told BBC Sport.

He has recovered from the ankle surgery which kept him out of his side's World Cup campaign earlier this year.

"I'm doing everything in my power to get back to where I was," he added.

Australia have only played five internationals in the Twenty20 format, winning three.

And although they are favourites to win in South Africa, Lee acknowledged that the relatively new 20-over format presented fresh challenges: "It's a matter of us learning as quickly as we can trying to adapt to that new situation.

"We are inexperienced. However the game hasn't really changed a lot from one-day cricket."

Australia, meanwhile, are to wear specially designed new sleeveless shirts during the tournament, which will see them take on England and Zimbabwe in the first round.

Captain Ricky Ponting said: "The tournament will involve fast games with short recovery periods. This new uniform has been specifically designed with the players' comfort and performance in mind."
