Shoaib's career has been dogged by controversy |
Controversial Pakistan paceman Shoaib Akhtar has been fined $5,000 (around 2,500) for two breaches of discipline. Pakistan Cricket Board chief executive Shafqat Nagmi revealed that Shoaib, 31, had left a training camp in Karachi without informing the team management.
Nagmi said: "He was also asked to appear before the disciplinary committee but he didn't show up."
Shoaib, who left the camp complaining of a neck strain, has been named in the squad for next month's World Twenty20.
But he has played just one Test match and four one-dayers in the last 15 months because of fitness problems.
He has been dogged by controversy throughout his career, and was banned for two years after failing a drugs test last October before having the punishment lifted on appeal.
