Vaughan was in a relaxed mood during England's press conference |
Michael Vaughan says England's one-day series win in Sri Lanka has given his Test squad a big confidence boost ahead of the three-match series in December. England's Test captain, who sat out the historic one-day triumph under Paul Collingwood, flew out to Sri Lanka with his squad on Thursday.
"To win that one-day series was an exceptional victory," said Vaughan.
"To have so many of that squad in this camp with a real confidence about them is great for the team."
The 33-year-old, who seems set to move up from number three to open the batting following Andrew Strauss' omission from the tour squad, says he feels reinvigorated after a lengthy break from the game.
Vaughan has not played for England since the Test series defeat by India in August.
"I feel very refreshed and very hungry to go out there and try to be successful," he said.

"I have really enjoyed my time away from the international game. I feel really energised to get back in and hopefully have a good trip."
He will be without injured all-rounder Andrew Flintoff in Sri Lanka but hopes fast bowler Steve Harmison, who is trying to prove his fitness by playing domestic cricket in South Africa, will join the squad.
And he said selecting the right side for the first Test, which starts in Kandy on 1 December, would be tough.
"There are a number of positions you could argue over," he said.
"It is a good position for us to be in, it is a matter of getting the balance right. We have to get what we feel is the right balance for that wicket in Kandy.
"We have to do our best to get the right XI. I do believe if we start well we will have a good tour."
