Boycott said Collingwood's tactics kept changing |
England batting legend Geoff Boycott has criticised the captaincy of Paul Collingwood at the World Twenty20. England beat Zimbabwe in their opener but then lost their next four games and went out at the Super Eight stage.
Boycott told the Daily Telegraph that England's campaign was 'chaotic' and that Collingwood was partly at fault.
"He made a number of mistakes," said Boycott. "He needs to buck his ideas up if he is to challenge Michael Vaughan's hold on the Test job."
Boycott also said the team must become more consistent in order to improve.
"Even when they are going well, you cannot help but wait for the cock-up," said Boycott. "They show flashes of quality, both in batting or bowling but they never seem to complete an innings.
"Just when they are starting to get on top, there is always a run-out, a dropped catch or a reckless shot around the corner. The batting order kept changing and so did the tactics."
But the former England and Yorkshire batsman is a Twenty20 fan.
"The game is short, sweet and great fun; it brings new people into contact with cricket."
