Collingwood watched his bowlers taken apart by the Indians |
Captain Paul Collingwood admitted England were not at their best during the World Twenty20 after they slipped out with an 18-run defeat by India. "I'm disappointed we haven't won enough games in the tournament. We've always been 10% off the pace," he said.
"Generally our bowling throughout has been fantastic. We've learnt a lot and the confidence is still there."
In five games, England only managed to beat Zimbabwe and were eliminated before their final Super Eights game.
South Africa defeated New Zealand earlier on Wednesday to confirm their fate.
Then Yuvraj Singh hit six sixes in the penultimate over off Stuart Broad, reaching his fifty in an international record 12 balls, as India piled up 218-4 in Durban.
And England were never in the hunt despite some positive batting from the top order.
"India's batsmen got hold of the bowlers and were difficult to stop and to have an over like Yuvraj's is very hard to drag back.
"It was our best batting performance of the tournament so far but wasn't quite good enough."

Youngster Broad cut a shell-shocked figure after Yuvraj launched his astonishing assault.
But Collingwood is confident he will bounce back during the forthcoming one-day series in Sri Lanka.
"Stuart will be absolutely gutted, he's a very proud man and he'll be devastated to be hit for 36, but it's up to us as players to stick behind him," the skipper added.

"It was only a matter of time before someone hit six sixes off an over in Twenty20."
