Vaughan and Flintoff can come good again says Adams

Adams witnessed at first hand Moores' techniques when they both led Sussex to the County Championship title in 2003.

Flintoff and Vaughan struggled for form during the World Cup and Adams said: "Peter is ideal for them.

"I think those two are very fortunate. He will give them the help and it could extend their careers."

Moores has publicly backed Vaughan and Flintoff but Adams said the new England coach would be forthright with them if he needed to.

"They have had fabulous careers but have stuttered slightly lately," said Adams.

"But you don't lose your talent overnight - perhaps you lose a bit of belief and focus.

"Peter is ideal for them. He is very adept at getting the best out of players and challenging them.

"More than any other coach I have worked with, he is prepared to create time and give up time to encourage and help players who want it.

"It will not be a 'softly' approach all the time - he will be very forthright."

Moores has said he has made it a priority to speak to Vaughan and Flintoff before the squad meets up to prepare for the first Test, against West Indies at Lord's on 17 May.

The 44-year-old officially succeeds Duncan Fletcher, who resigned after almost eight years at the helm, on Tuesday.
