Key man Andrew Flintoff and new coach Peter Moores |
New England coach Peter Moores will hold one-to-one talks with Andrew Flintoff in a bid to get the most out of the 2005 Ashes hero. Flintoff has been judged a spent force by some critics because of his dip in form and off-field behaviour.
But Moores told Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme: "He is a positive man and he loves the game.
"I will be speaking to Andrew in the next week to find out what helps him play the way he likes."
Flintoff's batting has tailed off badly in the last 18 months. However, his bowling - when he is fully fit - remains dangerous and he was England's leading wicket-taker, by some margin, in the World Cup.
Moores continued: "He loves playing for his country. We have seen some unbelievable innings from him and some unbelievable spells [of bowling].
"You try to get the individual comfortable playing for their country where they can produce their best.
"We have a player who has played some fantastic aggressive vibrant cricket.

"The key is to get that out of him again and get him enjoying the game again."
Moores will also be closely monitoring batsman Marcus Trescothick's progress.
The left-handed opener has suffered a stress-related problem for more than a year, which forced him home from tours of India and Australia.
Trescothick was not in the World Cup squad, but Moores said: "The fact he is playing again for Somerset is a massive positive.
"He is another one I need to talk to. The key for Marcus is that he is really comfortable and performing at the right level to get back into the England team.
"We all know the player he can be, both in one-day and Test match cricket."
