Kirtley and Gidman are heading to Bangladesh |
Seamer James Kirtley and all-rounder Alex Gidman have been called up by England A for the tour of Bangladesh. Sussex's Kirtley, 32, who played four Tests for the senior side in 2003, replaces Kent's Danish-born fast bowler Amjad Khan, who has a knee injury.
Gidman, 25, from Gloucestershire, comes in for Essex all-rounder Ravi Bopara, who was last week named in England's World Cup squad.
Chairman of selectors David Graveney said: "This is a great opportunity."
Graveney added:"We are particularly disappointed for Amjad Khan because he had only recently qualified to play for England and we hope that he makes a speedy recovery."
England A are playing five matches against Bangladesh A.
