Sri Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya surveys the damage at Galle |
England's itinerary for the tour of Sri Lanka later this year has been changed because of delays to the post-tsunami reconstruction work at Galle. Galle International Stadium, which was due to host the first Test from 1-5 December, will now host the third Test, with the opener moving to Kandy.
The venues for the rest of the tour, including the second Test at Colombo and five one-day games, are unchanged.
The third Test will be the first to be staged at Galle since the 2004 tsunami.
In December 2005 it was announced that total rebuilding costs would be in the region of 1m.
The stadium, which has staged 11 Test matches, felt the full impact of the tsunami when it hit the southern coast of Sri Lanka, one of a dozen countries to be affected.
