Cork is still going strong after retiring from the international scene |
Dominic Cork will lead England's squad in the Hong Kong Sixes in November. The all-rounder joins fellow veteran Darren Gough as well as Kabir Ali, Tim Bresnan, Glen Chapple, Mal Loye and Darren Maddy in the seven-man line-up.
Loye, the only man without a full England cap, will keep wicket as they build on their four previous triumphs.
"We have selected a very strong squad of players exceptionally well suited to this format of cricket," chairman of selectors David Graveney explained.
"We have not selected a specialist wicket-keeper as Mal Loye is capable with the gloves and his explosive batting should be a real asset for the team."
Loye added: "I'm very pleased to get a chance to do this, it was unexpected but it will be great fun.
"I've filled in as keeper at Northants and more recently for Warren Hegg in the Twenty20 Cup a couple of years ago."
Paceman Gough, 36, was recalled to England's one-day team after a year's absence for the series against Pakistan but missed the last three games with a shin injury.
He still hopes to play in next year's World Cup, while Cork, Loye, Chappell and Maddy have been rewarded for fine seasons with their counties.
Seamers Bresnan and Ali featured in the one-dayers against Sri Lanka earlier in the summer but proved expensive.
The other eight teams for the event on 11 and 12 November are Australia, India, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies and New Zealand.
