 Gough is England's leading one-day international wicket-taker |
England fast bowler Darren Gough has refused to rule out playing first-class cricket in India for Maharashtra. The state side, coached by Australian Darren Holder, are keen to sign foreign players for the Ranji Trophy campaign.
"I've heard on the grapevine and spoken to a couple of people over there but nothing more," said Gough, who suffered a shin injury playing for England.
"I'll be fit in two or three weeks and looking to play some cricket at the end of October so you never know."
Gough, who turns 36 on Monday, also said he expects to keep playing for Essex until the end of the 2008 season.
He moved from Yorkshire in 2004 and said: "It's been a good three years at Essex.
"I've got a two-year contract waiting for me to sign and I'm sure I'll do that in the next couple of weeks."
Despite missing October's ICC Champions Trophy, England's leading one-day international wicket-taker still believes he could rejoin the limited-overs side in Australia in January.
Gough has made no secret of his desire to play in his third World Cup in the Caribbean next March.
He added: "I've spoken to England and they want me to still be available. While they think I've got anything to offer I'll be available to play."
