Butler will hope to adjust to the English conditions quickly |
Ian Butler has been added to the New Zealand squad for the NatWest one-day series in England to replace the injured paceman Shane Bond. Bond was forced to miss the Test series against England and it had already been decided that he would be flying home to recover from his back condition.
Butler, 22, has played seven Tests and 10 one-day internationals.
He is the only change from an initial squad named in May to take part in the triangular tournament.
All-rounder Chris Harris, batsman Hamish Marshall and wicket-keeper Gareth Hopkins will also be joining the squad shortly, with Chris Martin and Mark Richardson returning home.
Harris is New Zealand's most capped one-day player with 240 appearances.
But it will be Hopkins' first chance at international level and he will provide cover when Brendon McCullum flies home for the birth of his first child.
The NatWest Series begins on 24 June when New Zealand face England in a day-night game and culminates in the final at Lord's on 10 July.
West Indies are the third team taking part and they have also named their squad, but England are yet to do so.
Revised New Zealand one-day squad: S Fleming (capt), N Astle, I Butler, C Cairns, C Harris, G Hopkins, H Marshall, B McCullum, C McMillan, K Mills, J Oram, M Papps, S Styris, D Tuffey, D Vettori.
