Jones and Lara handed fines
Jones shouts in Sarwan's face
Jones shouted in Sarwan's face after dismissing him
West Indies captain Brian Lara and England fast bowler Simon Jones were fined on Tuesday after the second Test.

Lara was censured for showing dissent towards the umpires after they offered England the light on the third day.

And Jones was punished for shouting at Ramnaresh Sarwan after dismissing him on day four of England's seven-wicket win in Trinidad.

"Simon pleaded guilty to a level one offence for bringing the game into disrepute," said referee Mike Procter.

"My feeling was that it was a bit more serious than a level one offence but I took on board what the umpires had to say."

"The ICC don't want to stop enthusiasm and we don't want to stop a young bowler with a lot of promise like Simon Jones."

Lara played down the Jones incident, saying: "I spoke to Sars [Sarwan] and he said he [Jones] just shouted but didn't say anything.

"The guys work really hard out there and show a bit of passion. It's just a part of the game."

England captain Michael Vaughan agreed, saying: "People have to realise he's had 14 months out of the game."

"He gets a key wicket and he's probably celebrated a bit over the top but 14 months is a long time to wait for a wicket."

Jones is the second England player to be punished under the new hard-line Code of Conduct introduced by the International Cricket Council last year.

Rikki Clarke also fined half his match fee for showing dissent to Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahman during the first Test in Dhaka last October.
