England fast bowler Stephen Harmison believes his bowling was better on day one in Trinidad than in the dramatic final stages of the first Test. Harmison, who took 7-12 on Sunday, claimed first day figures of 5-48 as the West Indies crashed from 100-0 to 189-8 in the second Test.
"In a period just after lunch it felt better than on Sunday," he said.
"It just seemed to click again. I found the right length and the wickets came just like that."
It was a dramatic turnaround from the opening exchanges, when Chris Gayle hit a boundary-filled 62 in an opening partnership with Devon Smith.
Harmison claimed three wickets in two overs to leave the home side 110-3 at lunch, including West Indies skipper Brian Lara for a fourth-ball duck.
"We had a tough morning with the sun out and Chris Gayle was playing some good shots," Harmison explained.
"Then 20 minutes before lunch there was a bit of cloud cover and I managed to get a few wickets.
"Lara is a world-class player and when I got his wicket that gave me a bit of a kick for the rest of the innings."
