Vaughan looks back after being bowled for eight at Lord's |
Michael Vaughan's failure at Lord's against Zimbabwe has seen him lose his place as the top-ranked batsman in Test cricket. Australia's Matthew Hayden nosed ahead of Vaughan by a single point after the Englishman was dismissed for eight on Thursday.
England won the match by an innings and other players in the English team boosted their ratings.
Marcus Trescothick is the next Englishman in the batting list in 18th place while Lord's man of the match Mark Butcher is 21st.
Hayden averaged 63.16 in Australia's recent 3-1 Test series win over West Indies and had previously held sway on top of the PriceWaterhouseCoopers ratings.
That was before Vaughan completed more than 1,500 runs in 12 Tests between May 2002 and January 2003.
Shaun Pollock, due to arrive in England in June for South Africa's five-Test tour, tops the bowling ahead of Australia's Glenn McGrath.
