SA seem set for heavy defeat
Second Women's Test, Taunton, day two (close): South Africa 130 & 67-3; England 455

Claire Taylor
Taylor has had a remarkable summer with the bat

Claire Taylor collected her second century of the series as England took the second Test by the scruff of the neck on day two.

Taylor, who hit 177 in the first Test at Shenley, was finally out for 131 at Taunton on Thursday.

Half-centuries from Lydia Greenway and Rosalie Birch, meanwhile, ensured South Africa would be chasing a hefty deficit when it came to be their turn to bat again.

Eight bowlers were used by South African captain Alison Hodgkinson.

But when the other Clare Taylor at number nine hit 45, that policy did not seem to be working entirely to plan.

South Africa ended up with 34 overs of batting before stumps, in which time they slumped to 67-3.

The winner of this Test, presumably England, will claim the series after the first Test was drawn.

England: RA Birch, CJ Connor, CM Edwards, L Greenway, IT Guha, LK Newton, LC Pearson, J Smit, CE Taylor, SC Taylor, H Wardlaw.

South Africa: J Barnard, CZ Brits, CS Cowan, AL Hodgkinson, LZ Jacobs, J Logtenberg, N Ndzundzu, AE Smith, M Terblanche, Y van der Merwe, C van der Westhuizen.
