Naved handed Yorkshire ultimatum

Rana Naved-ul-Hasan

Yorkshire have given Pakistani paceman Rana Naved-ul-Hasan until 1700 BST on 1 May to rejoin the squad or have his contract terminated.

Rana, 30, is in his homeland trying to get the necessary work permit to return for the second year of his deal.

A statement on the club website read: "Rana is understandably upset by the current situation, which is outside the control of both club and player.

"He will endeavour to meet the deadline that has been imposed."

The statement continued: "While the Club appreciates that Rana has made a concerted effort to get his work permit problems resolved it has told him that the uncertainty surrounding his return to the United Kingdom cannot continue into the season without resolution.

"Rana has been in regular contact with the club over the last few weeks. He appreciates the club's desire to move into the season with a full squad, which is obviously not possible in his absence."
