Yorkshire's director of cricket David Byas has left the county by mutual consent after deciding he does not fit into the club's new structure. It is the latest blow to the county following Chris Adams' decision to stay with Sussex rather than become the captain and coach of Yorkshire.
A statement said: "The club would like to thank David for his service."
Yorkshire want to appoint a director of professional cricket and director of cricket operations.
The statement continued: "After several meetings it has been decided, for reasons of mutual benefit, that David will not play a role in the new structure and will move on from the club with immediate effect."
"Under his leadership the club were promoted to the first division of the county championship in 2005.
"He has also overseen the development of a number of the county's emerging prospects.
"The club is going through a major change process both on and off the field and both David and the club agree that it is time for a new structure."
Yorkshire do not have anyone in place to take over Byas' responsibilities and so the current coaching staff will cover until a replacement can be found.
