 Gillespie has 259 Test and 142 one-day wickets |
Yorkshire have confirmed Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie as their second overseas player for 2007. However, Yorkshire officials denied reports that Darren Gough, who left in 2003, would be returning to the club.
"I can confirm that there's been no formal discussion - that's another bit of rumour and speculation," chief executive Stewart Regan told BBC Leeds.
Gillespie, 31, joined Yorkshire last season but took just 36 wickets as the Tykes finished sixth in Division One.
He will join Younis Khan, the first Pakistan player to play for Yorkshire, as the Tykes bid to rebuild from the turmoil of the close season.
They appointed Chris Adams as captain and head of pro cricket but the Sussex captain had a last minute change of heart and elected to stay on the south coast.
Yorkshire are banking on Gillespie's experience, which spans 71 Tests and 97 one-day internationals.
Regan said: "Jason is a model professional who always spends time with our younger supporters and is always willing to assist the club however he can."
