50-over game is boring - Newton

Mark Newton - Twenty20 will take over

Worcestershire chief executive Mark Newton says Twenty20 cricket will take over from the 50-over version, which he feels is becoming 'boring'.

Newton says Twenty20 is the way forward for the game: "TV drives sport and cricket is an entertainment and we have to play what people want to see."

Newton says clubs like Worcestershire can make 200,000 a year from Twenty20.

"I would like us to take advantage of what we know and get rid of 50 overs which I think has become boring."
