The water reached its second highest level ever at new Road

A huge layer of mud remains on the outfield as a result of the constant flooding that left some parts of the ground under 12 feet of water.

"It was a big blow to everyone who put their heart and soul into the club," chief executive Mark Newton said.

"All we can do now is concentrate on getting everything right, reseeding the ground, and getting it even better."

Worcestershire had already re-arranged all their games in August away from their headquarters but were hoping to return in September for the finale of the campaign.

The final Championship game of the season with Hampshire will be staged from 4-7 September - a day earlier than scheduled - at Kidderminster, which will also host the televised Pro40 clash against Northamptonshire.

Newton, who described this season's miserable chain of events as "the worst in the club's history", insisted there were no plans to re-locate permanently.

"The lost revenue is rising towards �500,000 but the board are determined we will not move away from New Road," he said. "A recent survey showed this is one of the top-10 grounds in the world that people like to visit.

"This is the second highest flood in the club's history but the last summer flood before the two we have had this year was in 1969. We have to hope we will have the same gap again."
