Donald joined Warwickshire as bowling coach in 2007 |
South African pace legend Allan Donald is set to resign as Warwickshire's bowling coach next month. Donald will leave the Bears on 17 September after deciding to return to his native country for family reasons. Warwickshire's director of cricket Ashley Giles said:"It is disappointing to be losing Allan because his input has been great." Giles, who is also an England selector, is hoping to bring in a replacement for Donald before the New Year. Donald, who was a bowling consultant for England before joining Warwickshire, has been with the club as both a player and a coach. | 606: DEBATE |
The 42-year-old was the first South African bowler to take 300 Test wickets. Giles added: "It has been a difficult time for him and I am sure he has made the right decision. "I haven't gone through what Allan has gone through this year but I have spent a lot of time away from the family over the years. "I know the pressures of not being with your loved ones." With regards to finding a replacement for the widely respected Donald, Giles said: "I have had a few thoughts about the situation because it has been a possibility for a while but we haven't made any approaches. "We will see who is out there but I would like to have someone in by November or December."
