Knight led the side to last year's County Championship title |
Warwickshire will be looking for a new coach and captain next season with John Inverarity leaving at the end of the season and Nick Knight standing down. Director of coaching Inverarity has confirmed he will end his three-year association with the club.
The Australian has taught at a Perth university for the past two winters and plans to extend his involvement there.
Knight intends to keep playing for a few more seasons but wants more time for other commitments beyond cricket.
Inverarity said he "had found his three seasons as coach of Warwickshire to be both very enjoyable and rewarding and wishes the club well for the future".
Dennis Amiss, Warwickshire's chief executive, paid tribute to Inverarity. "We would like to thank John for his tremendous contribution to Warwickshire cricket since his arrival at Edgbaston, and wish him well for his future," Amiss said.
Knight, who led the side to the County Championship title last year, asked to be relieved of the responsibilities of captain "to better enable him to deal with his other commitments and prepare well for his career beyond playing cricket".
"The club would like to place on record our thanks and appreciation to Nick for his achievements as captain of the club," Amiss added.
"We look forward to his continued participation both as captain for the remainder of the season and as a key member of the squad for the foreseeable future."
