Wagg bowling for England A against India A in February

The England A all-rounder attended a hearing of the England and Wales Cricket Board's disciplinary panel and admitted taking the drug.

The hearing, which was held at Lord's on Monday, was adjourned until 18 October when his punishment will be handed out.

The 21-year-old, who faces a lengthy ban, has expressed his remorse.

Wagg gave the positive sample after a random drugs test following the final Totesport League game of the season against Gloucestershire.

A statement released on his behalf said: "Mr Wagg is deeply remorseful and determined to show his employers and cricket fans that he will accept the punishment meted out to him."

Wagg took five wickets on his Championship debut against Somerset two years ago and toured India with England A last winter.

But he has since been hampered by a back injury and did not make any appearances in Warwickshire's County Championship winning squad during the past season.

Any cricketer found to have taken a prohibited substance can expect a lengthy ban from the game.
