Lord's admits Twenty20 Cup
Lord's
Lord's missed out on the first year of Twenty20

Lord's will host its first Twenty20 Cup fixture in 2004 with a match between Middlesex and holders Surrey.

Council rules on music prevented the home of cricket hosting a match in the tournament's inaugural season, and the final was held at Trent Bridge instead.

This year's tournament starts on 2 July and Edgbaston will host the semi-finals and the final on 7 August.

The tournament's second year sees the introduction of a quarter-final stage as well as a single "derby day".

On 9 July, Sussex play Hampshire, Warwickshire host Worcestershire, Derbyshire travel to Nottinghamshire, Gloucestershire take on Somerset and Surrey play Kent.

The innovative version of the game sees teams bat for 20 overs per side with other rules in place to speed up the action.
