Warwickshire will be looking to go one better next summer |
Edgbaston has been chosen to host the final of the 2004 Twenty20 Cup. Warwickshire lost to Surrey in the final of this year's competition at Trent Bridge.
And they will be hoping to make home advantage count if they qualify for finals day on 7 August.
"It's great news. They did a top job at Trent Bridge and we are delighted to get a chance at staging the event," said Warwickshire operations manager Keith Cook.
"I think the intention was that the final would travel round the country and we made no secret that we would like to be considered for it - I don't know who else was in the frame."
The Twenty20 Cup proved a massive hit in its inaugural year, attracting more than 250,000 spectators to watch matches which last only three hours.
Finals day features the two semi-finals plus the final itself and this year a concert by Atomic Kitten was also part of the package put together by Nottinghamshire.
"I'm certain we'll have entertainment as well. We had a classical music and fireworks event at the ground a few years ago, but we've never had a full blown concert," Cook added.
The Twenty20 final will be one of the highlights of a busy summer at Edgbaston, which will also stage the second Test between England and West Indies and first round games in the ICC Champions Trophy.
Warwickshire's busy schedule has, meanwhile, prompted the club to schedule Championship cricket at Stratford-upon-Avon for the first time when they play Lancashire from 18-21 June.
The club last visited Swans Nest Lane in 2000 for a NatWest Trophy second round tie against Kent Cricket Board.
