Machan made his first-class and list A debuts in 2010 |
Matt Machan has signed his first professional deal with Sussex, agreeing a two-year contract. The batsman scored 56 against India in August and followed that up with 71 against Nottinghamshire on his debut in the County Championship. And the 20-year-old said: "I'd like to thank all of the coaches for the support they've given me. "I'll be going to Australia now for the next couple of months to build on my game and work towards the 2012 season." Sussex cricket manager Mark Robinson added: "Matt's performances throughout the summer, but especially in the two first team games he played, has shown that he has the potential to be a very good player. "The two-year contract will now give him the time to take his game forward."
