Sussex captain Mike Yardy says he is proud to be named in England's 15-man ICC World Twenty20 squad.
It marks a return to the international scene for the left-arm spinner, whose last England T20 appearance was in June 2007 against the West Indies.
He told BBC Sussex: "I was pleased with how I batted and bowled in the T20 Cup last year and hopefully I can take that into the international arena.
"I'm proud to represent my country and I hope to make a big contribution."
He added: "I've worked hard on the areas I needed to improve. Hopefully, that'll show if and when I get a game."
All-rounder Luke Wright was also included in the squad, though wicketkeeper/batsman Matt Prior was left out in favour of Somerset's Craig Kieswetter.
Yardy said: "He'll be disappointed but Matt's a strong character and I'm sure he'll be pushing to break into the international T20 set-up soon."
Sussex professional cricket manager Mark Robinson told the club website: "We're delighted that two of our boys are representing their country in the World Cup.
"Luke was probably expected, which is a testament to how well he is doing. In Michael Yardy, we are delighted that the player we believe to be the best T20 bowler in the country has been recognised by England."
