Arafat announces return to Sussex

Arafat was an integral part of Sussex's one-day success in 2009

Sussex have announced that Pakistan seamer Yasir Arafat is to return to Hove for the 2010 county season.

The 27-year-old featured in Sussex's Pro40 and Twenty20 Cup wins in 2009 and helped the county to the Friends Provident Trophy final.

"I am delighted to be coming back for the 2010 season," Arafat said.

"When I played my first year at the club in 2006, I was determined to return in the future. I did that last season and enjoyed every minute of it."

He added: "Although we did not do so well in the Championship, our one-day form was tremendous and it was a joy to be part of that.

"I look forward to 2010 and returning to a great bunch of players, coaching staff and supporters with a view to improving on 2009."

In last season's one-day matches, Arafat took 24 wickets at an average of 25.83 and in Twenty20 matches also took 15 wickets at an average of 14.00 going at just 6.08 an over.

Sussex captain Mike Yardy said: "Yasir played an integral part in our successes last season and it is great for us to secure him for 2010.

"He is a huge team man, who has a great influence in the dressing room."
