Sussex qualified for the Champions League by winning the Twenty 20
Sussex chief executive Dave Brooks says there are positives to be taken despite their early exit from the Champions League Twenty 20.
Brooks told BBC Sussex the experience of playing in the competition will stand the county in good stead.
"All of the players and the coaches have been prompted to think about how to take our skills up," he said.
"We've got to prepare for defending our Twenty 20 title in 2010 and hopefully come back next year."
Brooks was also full of praise for the Sussex squad. "Its been a pleasure to work with such a great bunch of lads and just seeing them grow and develop and so eager to learn," he added.
"Lets ensure that we maximise the experience and the playing benefits because you can't but a value on those.
"We might have won two domestic trophies and been runners-up in a third, but some of these overseas sides are another level ahead of us.
"We've now got to build on the experience and make sure it makes us even better next year against the other 17 counties."
Brooks also praised the Sussex fans who travelled to India to watch the team.
"Just to hear Sussex-by-the-Sea coming out every three or four overs was a real boost for the players," he said. "We're immensely grateful for them coming over and it was a great help for us."
