Chawla played impressively against England

Sussex have signed Indian all-rounder Piyush Chawla to replace Yasir Arafat as their overseas player this month.

Chawla, 20, has played in two Tests, 21 one-day internationals and featured in the Indian Premier League.

Cricket manager Mark Robinson said: "We've been looking for a bowler who can potentially change the course of a game. We're sure he will fit the bill.

"Leg-spinners have proven success not only at our club, but in county cricket across the board."

Chawla will make his debut against Worcestershire at New Road on Thursday.
