Goodwin is in his ninth season with Sussex |
Batsman Murray Goodwin has resigned from his Indian Cricket League contract, allowing Sussex to qualify for the Twenty20 Champions League. Counties with players contracted to the ICL have been banned from playing in the competition. But the resignation of the former Zimbabwe international means Sussex would now be able to feature in the 2009 tournament, if they get through. Goodwin, 36, would not be allowed to play in it until 2010. He said: "It's the right move to resign my ICL contract and I want to give Sussex every opportunity of progressing as far as we can in cricket." The winners of English cricket's Twenty20 Cup competition qualify for the Champions League.
